This will be a full day outing, and we hope will  attract a larger number of people, as it combines the visit of a garden with a visit of an exceptional  world heritage monument, the Pont du Gard– nature plus culture !

In the morning we will visit the Mediterranean  Garden, called “Mémoires de Garrigue”. It covers 15 ha, with a walking path of 1½ km. During the  walk we will discover Mediterranean agriculture throughout the ages, with its architecture of drystone walls and shelters, pastoralism, forestry, medicinal  and aromatic plants. We will see plots of typical  Mediterranean crops and fruit trees. The visits lasts about 11/2 hours.

We will then watch a film introducing us to the Museum and the site of the monument. The Museum visit should also take about 11/2 hours. Using the latest multimedia technology it will “plunge us into the universe of Roman antiquity” and help us understand the vital role of water for the Romans.

We will picnic beside the Gardon and explore the  Pont du Gard site.

The cost will be approximately 8.50€ each and 6€ if we are more than 10 people. This includes the garden, the Museum, the film, the site and any temporary exhibition.

Please let Sue know if you are willing to drive.
